One of the closest finishes in Targa Florio history came in 1972. The single Ferrari 312 PB was able to fend off the attack from 4 factory alfas 33 and won the grouling race with just 16 second advantage.

Porsche 917 LH

Porsche 917 LH was the pinnacle of Porsche efforts to make their cars as fast as possible on the Mulsanne straight at Lemans. Highest top speed recorded was 385 km/h. In 1971 this Wyer team entered car lead the race comprehensively until the 12 hour of the race, from then on mechanical issues forced it to retire.

This is a scene from the tragic Lemans 1955 race where this tiny Porsche 550 finished the race in formidable fourth position. Unfortunately the good result was overshadowed by the biggest tragedy in the history of motorsport.

Ferrari 612p was Enzo's weapon for the can-am championship, the car was first introduced in 1968, but it was unsuccessful, the next year car started to show better form and finished on the podium in a couple of races, but then Ferrari decided to stop with the funding and before the end of the season the program was abandoned.

In the 70's f1 cars had huge airboxes and the car that had the biggest one was Ligier JS5 from 1976. It was shaped like teapot and thats why it was called the flying teapot.
